Can You Attach A Garden Hose To A Bathroom Faucet?

For many reasons, you might be thinking to attach a garden hose to a bathroom faucet.

The foremost reason is that it provides easier access to water where you need such as the terrace, the garden, or the balcony (to water your plants), etc.

If you have tried to connect a garden hose to your bathroom faucet, you have seen that it does not fit directly.

But don’t worry; you do not need fancy equipment and technical knowledge to connect your garden hose to your bathroom faucet.

The good news is that you can easily attach a garden hose to a bathroom faucet by simply using a faucet adapter.

The first step is to remove the aerator so you can install the adapter and then you can attach the garden hose to the bathroom faucet.

In the below article, we also discussed how you can attach a garden hose to an unthreaded faucet.

How to Attach A Garden Hose To A Bathroom Faucet?

Step 1: Remove the Aerator from the Bathroom Faucet

Before removing the aerator make sure to cover the drain with a stopper or towel so that you don’t lose any parts in the drain.

Remove the aerator by turning it in a counterclockwise direction. In many cases, the aerator isn’t too tight and will easily loosen up with the force of your hand.

If the aerator is tight and not coming out with your hand then use channel pliers.

But, make sure to cover the teeth of pliers with plumbing tape to avoid scratches on the surface of the aerator. Then grip the aerator with channel pliers and turn it in a counterclockwise direction.

If the aerator is hidden, then you will have to use a key Wrench Tool.

To use the tool, all you’ve to do is simply insert the wrench tool into the aerator notches and turn it in counterclockwise direction and the aerator will come out easily.

If the aerator is rusted and hard to remove then use a WD-40 spray.

Before using the spray make sure to open all the windows in your house for proper ventilation. Then, spray some WD-40 on the aerator and wait for a few minutes.

Now, clean the aerator to get a proper grip and remove it with the help of channel pliers (make sure to cover the teeth of pliers with plumbers tape to avoid any scratching) by turning it in a counterclockwise direction.

Step 2: Attach the Adapter to Bathroom Faucet

Before attaching the adapter to your faucet make sure to check if there’s a rubber or vinyl gasket in it. Or else a leak will occur from the adapter.

Now, screw the adapter to the bathroom faucet spout. No tools are required for that, simply turn the adapter in a clockwise direction with your hand.

But, make sure the adapter is tightly screwed to the faucet, forming a good seal. You can check by turning on the faucet and observe if water is leaking or not from the adapter.

Step 3: Screw on the Hose to the Adapter

At last, screw the hose to the faucet adapter with your hand.

Make sure to screw it tightly so that a water seal forms between the hose and the adapter. The seal will help to avoid leakage.

But, be careful not to cross-thread while screwing the garden hose. Cross-thread will damage your adapter and garden hose so make sure to do it carefully.

Now, you can use the hose by simply turning on the faucet.

TIP – Keep the bill receipt of the adapter with yourself. In case, if the adapter does not fit your faucet or garden hose then you can replace it or get the refund money easily with the help of a bill receipt.
